We got an appointment scheduled and our work was completed in about 2-3 hours. The bill was pretty high and sadly no senior discounts, offers or coupons or payment options were provided to us. (In 2022 we had about 2,500+ work done, and also needed new tires, and now in 2024 $1,350 work- given the age of our vehicle and only 65K miles I suppose it was a time issue- but sooo expensive!.). We wanted our fuel pump checked due to concerns o rough starting and keeping the vehicle running. I was seriously disappointed to be informed of a $179 charge to have a mechanic check what I told them I needed. I stated that was pretty expensive to just look, and was told by my service person, "The mechanic has to be paid for his time". I said, "well doesn't he get paid by the hour when he is fixing the car?" Then I was told that is all figured into the price. No kidding- we got the labor charge and parts and fees and tax, AND the diagnostic $179 charge. Charging me the $179 fee if I decided NOT to have it fixed, might make sense but diagnosing a problem and charging for it and then fixing it the problem the diagnostic charge should be reduced or eliminated. They fixed the vehicle and because it was a longer wait gave us a loaner for the day so we could get to other scheduled appointments in town that day. I appreciated this very much. We put gas back into the vehicle- as requested.--more gas than we used. I told our service person that due to their high fees and prices I will likely use a local mechanic and not the dealership in the future. The next day after driving the 100 miles back home our van wouldn't hardly start or stay running. It didn't make any sense so we tried calling our service person, had to leave him a message, and he never returned our call. My husband finally was able to figure out the trouble-- the main battery cable had been left loose once tightened back the van started and ran fine. This was not lose when we took the car in. Again we called to talk to Nic our service person and again had to leave a message, and again got no call back. We checked that he was in the office that day, and now 2 days later, still have not heard from him. I find this unacceptable to not at least contact the customer to close the loop of communication with the customer. Another side note- Bergstrom's Dealership is a nice, classy place. But to have NO Coffee in the waiting room due to a broken coffee machine, and other waiting customers wanted some as well. The sales man offered me coffee and actually walked to another area of the building to bring it to me. Nic just said the machine is broken, no coffee.
